To reset and adjust the windshield wiper motor, first prepare adjustment tools, such as a wrench. Then, follow these steps:
Step 1: Use a wrench to remove the wiper blade mounting screws. Briefly press the wiper switch and immediately turn it off. Reinstall the wiper arm; this will reset the wiper motor. Then, turn on the wipers to check the adjustment.
Step 2: Turn the ignition key to the ON position and adjust the wiper switch to the clearance setting. The wiper blades will automatically return to the bottom of the windshield.
Then, turn off the switch and remove the key. Next, open the dust cover at the base of the wiper arm and use a suitable wrench or socket wrench to loosen the screws.
Step 3: Gently lift the wiper blade and shake it until it loosens. Place it in the desired position, then tighten the screws and replace the dust cover.
Step 4: Check the Buick GL8 wiper positioning adjuster to ensure the gap between the small locking plate and the vertical blade is maintained within the range of 4-8mm. Too small a gap may cause the wiper to hit the glass frame, while too large a gap will reduce the working range of the wiper.
